Everyone’s favourite Swedish furniture company has published a collection of baking recipes, Hembakat är Bäst or Homemade is Best.
The prinsesstårta, or sponge cake with green marzipan icing, does sound delicious but we want the book most for its stark, unusual photography. The ingredients in each dessert, like eggs, sugar and vanilla beans, were laid out in abstract, graphic designs by stylist Evelina Bratell and then photographed by Carl Kleiner.
The book is only available in the kitchen section of Ikea stores in Sweden but there is a Homemade is Best iPhone app if you want to make your own vaniljhorn, or crescent shortbread cookies, at home.
